Get High in Nepal – 7 Best Nepal High Altitude Viewpoints
Looking for the best Nepal high altitude viewpoints that blow your mind without breaking any laws? You found them. These seven spots give you the purest, cleanest high on earth: thin air, giant mountains and views that make you forget how to speak.
We run trips to every single one at Navigate Outdoor. Let’s go.
1. Kala Patthar – 5,644 m

This little black hill sits right in front of Everest. Sunrise here is stupidly beautiful. The southwest face of Everest turns gold while you stand there freezing and grinning like an idiot. Most popular Nepal high altitude viewpoint for a reason.
2. Gokyo Ri – 5,360 m

Imagine five glowing turquoise lakes below you and the longest glacier in Nepal rolling out like a white highway. Fewer people than Everest side, so you actually get peace. Best colors you will ever see from any Nepal high altitude viewpoint.
3. Larkya La Pass – 5,160 m (Nepal high altitude viewpoints)

You work 16 days on the Manaslu Circuit to earn this pass. When you finally step on top, ten giant peaks stare you down. Your legs hate you. Your soul thanks you. Pure reward.
4. Meso Kanto La (above Tilicho Lake) – 5,300 m

Most people stop at Tilicho Lake and call it a day. Keep climbing the ridge and you unlock a secret Nepal high altitude viewpoint. Annapurna walls look close enough to touch. Only the brave get this one.
5. Thorong La Pass – 5,416 m (Nepal high altitude viewpoints)

Highest trekking pass in the world. You start at 4 a.m., lungs burning, then the sun hits and prayer flags go wild. Annapurna on one side, Dhaulagiri on the other. Many people cry happy tears here.
6. Mardi Himal Upper Ridge – around 4,800-5,000 m

Everyone knows Poon Hill. Almost nobody continues to the real Mardi high point. Fishtail Mountain looks sharp enough to cut the sky. Zero crowds. Feels like you discovered it yourself.
7. Paragliding from Sarangkot – eye level with 7,000 m peaks

Not standing on 5000m but you fly right at the same height as the big peaks. Sunrise over the Annapurnas while eagles ride the same wind. Best breakfast view in Nepal.
